Counseling Service

Life is full of interpersonal and emotional challenges. Sometimes these periods of uncertainty and challenge can be frightening. However, I believe they provide an opportunity to grow, attain inner peace and create a new beginning. My goal is to provide a safe and confidential space in which you can explore your personal concerns in order to develop and attain personal goals, achieve authentic relationships and gain self- awareness.

I am a compassionate counselor who focuses on individual strengths to build and foster healthy communication and relationships. As a therapist, I am committed to helping empower you to better understand yourself and your behavior. With my encouragement and support we will work together to develop a more effective way of living a positive and productive life.

I use Cognitive Behavior therapy and Solution Focused-Brief therapy treatment methods to help you lead a more fulfilling life. I welcome the opportunity to help you create a new beginning.

I enjoy working with parents to create a healthy environment in which their children can thrive. I typically meet with the parents first to hear all about their child’s strengths and struggles. Then, as I meet with your child I measure their self-concept, anxiety, depression, anger, resiliency, and reactivity as I hear from them what is working in their life and what is not.

I enjoy the challenge of adolescent counseling & helping teens navigate the tricky waters of middle school and high school. Being an adolescent is not easy; managing schoolwork, peer pressure, sports, relationships, electronics, driving, and college applications can be overwhelming. Conflict around these issues can put teens and their parents at risk for depression and anxiety.

I work to help teens appreciate their parents and help parents celebrate the launching of their teens. I teach adolescents social and life skills that will serve them throughout their life in schools, families, and in the job market.

  • Behavioral problems
  • Academic struggles
  • Social skill deficits
  • Friendship issues
  • Family conflict
  • Worries/Anxiety/Stress
  • Low self-esteem
  • Separation and Divorce Issues

The adults that I work with are successful, smart, and determined to work on the one or two areas that are not working in their lives. I partner with them in building more satisfying personal lives, relationships, and careers. I see people who have tried everything and have made the courageous decision to admit they need some help.

Nothing is more frustrating than trying really hard and still feeling like the particular problem is not getting better. I help my clients learn new approaches, so they don't simply try hard, but actually see progress. Most clients report they wish they had started the process sooner!

  • Relationship Struggles
  • Work Stress including Underemployment/Unemployment
  • Anxiety
  • Grief
  • Low Self-Esteem

Issues such as these are handled in a compassionate, non-blaming approach. Therapy is focused on solutions and attempts to bring about short-term relief as well as long-term change.

Clinical Supervision

Counselor Supervision is a service provided to counseling program graduates and/or professional school counselors who are pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. Supervision is an interactive process intended to monitor the quality of client care, improve clinical skills, and facilitate professional growth.

My personal approach to supervision is one of providing an environment of growth for a professional, to honestly evaluate his/her work performance, counseling skills and personal issues they bring into their practice. Supervision will be a mixture of case review, collaborative problem solving, chart review and support. As your supervisor, I will serve as teacher, consultant, and evaluator. We will work on accountability to ethics and best practice principles through reflecting together on your work.

Successful completion of a Master’s or Specialist degree program that qualifies you to pursue licensure as a Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia.

Education Consulting

Sometimes advocating for you child’s educational rights can be an overwhelming task. I am here to help you navigate the special education and 504 maze. Below is a description of the support that you will receive, if you decide to hire me.

I can assist you with understanding what is in your child’s records and be a resource for what information may be missing or you need assistance with.

Children with disabilities often require an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The parent should play a major role in the development of the IEP including the child’s documented strengths, weaknesses, goals, objections, related services and placement decisions.

My advice is based on my experiences as a employee of the school system, my experiences with my own child and the training and research I have done in the areas of Special Education Law and Advocacy.

We can discuss what your child needs and I will work with you to have the school district implement a plan to provide your child access to a free and appropriate education that is provided in the least restrictive environment with appropriate accommodations and modifications. I am here to assist you with planning and staying focused on the key factors.

To create an effective and appropriate IEP, the team needs to look closely at a child’s needs and share their knowledge, experience and ideas to develop a program for the child.

My desire is to deescalate conflicts and use strategies and skills to help everyone to work collaboratively. In my experience, there are fewer conflicts when an advocate is involved in the process. There is often more two-way participation in the meetings when an advocate is involved. I can help you to participate in creating your child’s educational plan and to be seen as a vital part of the team. My goal is to create a safe environment for everyone to work together.

My goal is to assist parents on their path of advocating for their child's educational rights. I desire to help you become more involved and confident in your child’s education. I want to help you become more confident and successful in advocating for the needs of your child.
